Community service

Community service

In line with the general orientation of the major universities in the world and with the orientation of our university, King Saud University, which established a training and community service center which is concerned with providing suitable training for all segments of society and spreading the culture of community service among the university staff, students, faculty and others. The Department of Chemistry, like other departments of the Faculty of Science is very interested in community service, where students and professors contribute in a lot of voluntary work and training courses for the benefit of the society.

Participating in community service allows students to become active members of their community and has a lasting positive impact on the community as a whole. Community service or volunteer work enables students to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those hwo need it strongly.

Students participate in many voluntary activities through scientific or cultural clubs in which they are active:

  • Organizing training courses (for their colleagues or external parties) in coordination with the department or/and the Saudi Chemical Society
  • Participation in campaigns of public benefit such as blood donation, hygiene or afforestation
  • Helping pilgrims during the pilgrimage period

The faculty members also contribute to many activities that serve the community, for example:

  • Organizing training courses in various disciplines
  • Cooperating with King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity
to train students who participate in the International Olympiads
