About Our Department
The biochemistry discipline studies life in all biological systems: human, animal, plant, and microorganisms, and viruses at the molecular level. This science interacts actively with related-sciences such as: chemistry, animal, plant, microbiology, medicine, pharmacy, and agriculture. Therefore, the Department of Biochemistry was established in 1981 to meet the increasing demand for this branch of science not only at the University level, but also at the national level. Initially the Department offered the B.Sc. Program only, but since 1987, the Department has been offering both B.Sc. and M.Sc. Programs.
