values
One of the most important priorities of the College Vice Deanship for Educational and Academic Affairs is academic advising. The College of Science is committed to providing its students with greater opportunities to understand and become familiar with all matters related to the academic departments and the regulations and procedures followed therein. The Vice Deanship also strives to prevent academic difficulties by activating the role of the academic advisor from the student's first day at the College and continuing to follow up on the student's academic progress until graduation, God willing.
Through the Academic Advising Unit, the Vice Deanship for Educational and Academic Affairs is responsible for monitoring the academic status of students who face academic difficulties and seeking practical solutions to help them overcome the causes of such difficulties. This is achieved through coordination with the relevant academic departments and units, while also supporting the development of students' creative abilities and encouraging them to become active participants in the educational process rather than passive recipients.
The role of the Vice Deanship is not limited to monitoring students' academic progress. It also extends to one of its key priorities, namely the development of academic programs through direct coordination between the Academic Programs Development Committee at the College of Science and the International Committee, whose members represent the various academic departments of the College. Together, they seek to establish alignment between the academic programs offered by the College of Science at King Saud University and those offered by leading international universities, with the aim of providing students with the knowledge and practical skills required by the labor market and enhancing the employment opportunities of College of Science graduates.
We believe that sound and well-planned academic and practical preparation provides College of Science students with the best opportunities to obtain employment that matches their academic qualifications and intellectual and research skills. The College strives to develop, strengthen, and refine these skills and present them to society through productive graduates who are capable of planning, analyzing, and solving problems facing society.
Through its website, the Vice Deanship also seeks to provide students with clear information about the general regulations related to cumulative GPA, academic warnings, withdrawal from a semester or course, and other academic procedures. Making such information readily available helps students remain informed and avoid academic difficulties resulting from a lack of awareness of these regulations.
In order to move beyond conventional assessment methods represented by midterm and final examinations, the College Vice Deanship for Educational and Academic Affairs has undertaken the responsibility of developing and diversifying assessment methods for courses. These methods may include, but are not limited to, scientific presentations, reports, research papers, discussion sessions, and examinations. The Vice Deanship also seeks to harmonize these assessment methods across academic departments in order to reduce differences between the College's departments. We are confident that such diversity contributes significantly to developing and strengthening students' academic and professional skills.
