The Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden was established in the year 1411 AH at the university, and it features over 1,141 wild species. The garden includes planting beds, greenhouses, a water pond, and a seed bank.
The university aimed to establish this botanical garden within the Department of Botany and Microbiology at the College of Science to introduce various plant species found in the Kingdom, including edible, medicinal, forage, aromatic, and poisonous plants. The garden also aims to conserve endangered desert plants and provide researchers and specialists with opportunities to obtain different plant samples and seeds for conducting specialized scientific research throughout the year.
It may come as a surprise to some that wild plants can also be used as ornamental plants to beautify gardens and public parks. These plants are characterized by their diverse forms, beautiful flowers, and fragrant scents. Additionally, they are well-adapted to the environmental conditions of the Kingdom, which many other plants cannot withstand.
