Bachelor of Science Program in Mathematics
The B.Sc. mathematics program was founded along with the Department of Mathematics in 21/4/1377 H. (15/11/1957 G.), in order to fulfill the needs of the society to mathematics and its applications. The program is delivered in the two branches of the department, namely in males’ section, situated in the main campus in “Diriyah”, and in the females’ section, situated in “Female Students Campus”. Currently, there are 80 faculty members comprising professors, associate professors and assistant professors specialized in various aspects of mathematics, such as, analysis, algebra, geometry, topology, numerical analysis, discrete mathematics, and applied mathematics. In addition to faculty members, the department has 72 lecturers, teaching assistants, demonstrators and investigators.
Apart from teaching duties, the faculty members in the department are actively involved in research in different areas of mathematics and their research papers are published in reputed international journals. Some of the faculty members are selected for the editorial boards of various journals, and many of them are reviewers of various journals of international repute. Several faculty members are highly cited and have been classified among the World’s top 2% Scientists list created by Stanford University in the United States of America. Some prestigious sectors and entities in the country have hired the services of more than 30% of the department’s Saudi faculty members to act as part-time or full-time consultants. Moreover, numerous leadership positions in various sectors in the Kingdom are held by graduates of our Mathematics Program.
An effective management system with a well-designed quality assurance have been adopted in order to ensure that the Mathematics Program continuously provides high-quality education to its students and it achieves its goals. This system ensures that the Mathematics Program meets the desired standards of excellence, and meets the expectations of various stakeholders, including students, faculty members, employers and the institution's leadership.
