About the Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology is one of the oldest departments at the university, contributing to the preparation of highly qualified scientific cadres who have helped and continue to help build the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various fields. This is achieved by qualifying female students at the postgraduate level and teaching preparatory year students in health sciences colleges, medicine, pharmacy, and students from the College of Agriculture. Additionally, the department serves other departments in the College of Science, such as Biochemistry, Botany, and Microbiology at the first level.

The Vice Chair of the Department word

Praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions. After that:

Zoology is home to a thriving community of researchers, students, staff, and visitors who share a fascination with how living organisms evolve, function, behave, and interact with each other. Our work bridges different levels of organization, from the cellular basis of an animal's form, function, and behavior, to interactions between living organisms, humans, and the environment. The department works closely with colleagues across the College of Science.

Our work impacts areas such as biodiversity, biotechnology, health, conservation, and environmental sustainability within the country. Our contributions reach academics, practitioners, and students at various educational stages, as well as members of society who share our interests.

We are committed to an inclusive community built on a strong foundation of mutual respect. We believe that equality and diversity are essential for a successful research and educational institution, and that a collaborative, considerate, and collective research culture supports excellence, allowing our community to reach beyond our buildings to our friends and graduates around the world.
