The Chair of Tribology, Convergence and Surfaces Research studies in the field of (study of friction and sliding as well as physical and chemical phenomena on surfaces and meeting areas) and more comprehensively studies the problems of friction between moving and fixed parts in the case of vibrations and how to increase performance efficiency and reduce erosion (Erosion and Corrosion) in addition to structural, electronic and mechanical phenomena on surfaces and meeting areas (Interfaces).
The field of this chair is the only one of its kind in Saudi universities.
This research chair is supervised by the Research Chairs Program at King Saud University, managed by a specialized scientific group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, College of Science. The priorities of this research chair depend on conducting research, studies and various activities that support the development of the exploitation of renewable energy sources.
Vision:
The chair focuses on excellence and leadership in research and studies related to renewable energy represented by solar energy and other renewable energy sources.
The Research Chair in Laser Diagnosis of Cancer (LDC) is active in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, College of Science, King Saud University. It was established in 2009 and has been very active since then. The team is led by Prof. Khalid Eidah Alzahrani, Chair of the Chair. The group consists of Dr. R. Saradh Prasad, and several aspiring research students (including Faculty of Dentistry and University City students) who are working towards achieving excellence in cancer diagnostic research.
The Student Guidance Committee in the department follows up on students academically by monitoring their academic level, repeated absences, identifying cases of weakness and failure in tests and courses, and directing them to join one of the student assistance channels available in the college to overcome their failures.
College Vision
* Knowledge
1. Describe the basics of biochemistry from the perspectives of cellular, enzymatic and nutritional aspects.
2. Explain molecular biology and its implications in cell activity and disease.
3. Summarize the biophysical fundamentals of the biochemical processes.
